Trial set to start for man accused of shooting into crowd

EVANSVILLE, Ind. (WEHT) – The trial for a man accused of shooting into a crowd of people was scheduled to begin on Tuesday.

Police said Raivone Mathis shot into a crowd on May 23 on Madison Ave., sending one man to the hospital.

Witnesses told police the gunshots came from across the street, firing at people gathered outside a home.

Police said Kentrell Bailey was shot in the wrist and hip.

He is expected to survive.

Police said Mathis was identified as the shooter from a photo lineup.
