Trump-Scarborough spat has Evansville connection

EVANSVILLE, Ind. (WEHT) —  A woman at the center of a controversy involving President Trump and a national TV talk show host has ties to Evansville.

President Trump tweeted MSNBC host Joe Scarborough should be investigated for the 2001 death of one of his staffers.

Trump is referring to Lori Klausutis, who was an aide to then Congressman Joe Scarborough from Florida.

Klausutis was known as Lori Bolterstein when she attended Evansville’s Memorial High School in the early 1990’s.  Her family later moved to Georgia.

Reports say Klausutis collapsed in Scarborough’s office from an undiagnosed heart condition, hit her head on a desk and later died.

Klausutis’s husband has asked the President to remove the tweets.

Eyewitness News reached out to several of Klausutis’s family members and friends, but none wanted to comment.
