EVANSVILLE, Ind. (WEHT) – Two people were arrested on criminal recklessness charges after someone apparently fired a gun.

Kimberly Miles faces the following charges:

  • Legend drug/anabolic steroid possession
  • Criminal recklessness while armed with a deadly weapon
  • Maintaining common nuisance
  • False informing/reporting
  • Possession of a look-a-like substance
  • Possession of paraphernalia

Nicholas Prince faces the following charges:

  • Possession of a firearm by a serious violent felon
  • Criminal recklessness while armed with a deadly weapon

While responding to the area of a shots fired call in the 500 block of Parkland Ave., police said they found a spent shell casing in the alley.

The casings matched live rounds found in the pocket of a passenger in the vehicle pulled over, police said.

Nicholas Prince had several .380 rounds in his pocket along with illegal narcotics in a drawstring bag by his feet, according to a police affidavit.

Prince was taken to jail.

A woman later identified as Kimberly Miles told officers that she heard the gunshot while inside a residence and then saw Prince holding the gun. According to an affidavit, Miles said she took the gun from Prince and ran inside the residence with it because she knew Prince had an extensive criminal history.

A witness told police they saw Miles outside the residence fire a single round in the air – not Prince.

Police said they found a Bryco 9mm handgun, .380 caliber rounds, suspected drugs, a digital scale, an empty holster, and a magazine for a handgun.

Another witness told police that they believed the house was being used to sell drugs.
