HENDERSON, Ky. (WEHT) — The Henderson County Coroner’s Office confirms two bodies were found in a home in the 200 block of Peggy Drive.
Around 1:30 Monday afternoon, authorities say one of the men’s mother dropped by to check on him after not hearing from him, when she discovered her son and another man deceased inside the home.
A neighbor, Jamia Payne, has lived on the street for more than 50 years. Payne says she considered her neighbor one of her best friends.
“He was there for me if I needed him and I was there for him if he needed me. That’s just the way the rule was out here when we were growing up. We were all brothers and sisters and it didn’t matter if it was his mom, she got on me. She didn’t call my mom and tell her, she got on me herself and everybody was just like brothers and sisters,” Payne said.
Payne tells Eyewitness News her neighbor was in his 50’s and lived alone. She also says she didn’t normally see other people coming or leaving his home.
“I don’t know about the other man because I’ve never, ever seen another man go in. So I don’t know, it strikes me as suspicious,” Payne said.
Their identities have not yet been released. The coroner’s office says autopsies are scheduled for tomorrow morning in Madisonville.
