Two men charged with murder after Ohio County off-road crash

Local News

OHIO COUNTY, Ky (WEHT) – Two Ohio County men are charged with murder after a woman has died in a UTV crash.

Kentucky State Police said 25-year-old Zachary Barker of Utica was driving an off-road vehicle on a gravel road outside of Centertown around 1:00 a.m. Sunday.

Troopers said 51-year-old James Rone of Utica was also driving a UTV near Kentucky Highway 85 near Barker.

KSP said Barker didn’t see Rone attempting to pass him and steered his vehicle into the driver’s side rear of Rone’s vehicle. The collision caused Rone’s UTV to lose control and flip multiple times.

39-year-old Ashley Carver of Greenville was ejected from one of the vehicles and was pronounced dead at the scene.

44-year-old Tonya Rone and a 10-year-old were also ejected from a UTV. Rone and the juvenile were both flown to an Evansville hospital for serious injuries.

Barker and Rone were both under the influence, according to KSP. The men are charged murder, assault, and DUI in relation to the crash.

Barker and Rone are scheduled to make their first court appearance at 1:00 p.m. in Ohio County Monday.
