Two men charged with murder after deadly UTV accident

CENTERTOWN, Ky. (WEHT) – Two men are charged with murder after a UTV wreck kills a woman in Ohio County.

Kentucky State Police said 25 year old Zachary Barker of Utica was driving a side-by-side UTV on a gravel road outside of Centertown, and 51 year old James Rone was driving a second side-by-side UTV with him.

Police said Barker didn’t see Rone trying to pass him and steered into Rone’s UTV. We’re told Rone lost control and flipped multiple times.

Passengers Ashley L. Carver, 39 of Greenville, Tonya Rone, 44 of Centertown and a ten-year-old juvenile were all ejected from the UTV.

Tonya Rone and the juvenile were both transported by Air Evac to St. Vincent Hospital in Evansville Indiana for life threatening injuries.

Ohio County Coroner’s Office pronounced Carver dead on the scene.

Troopers said Zachary Barker and James Rone were under the influence and both were arrested.

They were both charged with Murder; Assault 1st Degree; Wanton Endangerment 1stDegree and Driving Under the Influence.

Troopers also arrested Gregory M. Barker, 49 of Hartford for Obstructing Emergency Responders 1st Degree and Disorderly Conduct.

All three men were booked into the Ohio County Detention Center.
