EVANSVILLE, Ind. (WEHT) – Two people who pleaded guilty to involvement in an armed robbery leading to an Evansville man’s death have had their murder charges dropped as part of a plea agreement.

Xzereus Dlamini, 20, and 18-year-old MacKayla Scarbrough pleaded guilty to conspiracy to commit armed robbery.

They were sentenced to four years in prison.

Both were originally also charged with two counts of murder, robbery resulting in bodily injury, and burglary.

Police said Scarbrough went to 65-year-old Odie Carrier’s apartment to have sex with him.

Police believe Connor Johnson and Dlamini went with Scarbrough to rob Carrier.

Police said Johnson shot Carrier and then the three suspects fled the scene.

Johnson was sentenced to 20 years in October.
