Original Story
EVANSVILLE, Ind. (WEHT) — A University of Evansville student is claiming Professor Robert Dion made an obscene gesture towards him while he was delivering a Christian message in a free speech zone on campus. Dion serves on the Evansville-Vanderburgh County Human Relations Commission.
The student, Jalen Chestnut, alleges the incident happened in April.
Monday night at the Evansville City Council meeting, he called for the removal of Dion from the position with the Human Relations Commission.
City council members told him Dion was appointed to his position by the mayor’s office.
Chestnut said he will now ask the mayor to remove Dion.
Eyewitness News reached out to Dion. He said, “It’s prudent I not say much. There is a complaint and it is being examined. He is getting due process and so am I. There have been some pretty egregious misrepresentations. I feel confident that the evidence, the facts, and the law are on my side.”
