UPDATE: Man in Ferdinand Crash Dies from Injuries

The Dubois Co. Sheriff’s Office says Leroy Witte, 71, Jasper, died Tuesday night from injuries he received in a crash in Ferdinand on Sept. 17.

A two-vehicle accident at about 12:30 Thursday afternoon injured two elderly men riding in a utility vehicle along Indiana 162 north of Ferdinand.

Both the driver of the utility vehicle and a passenger were  seriouly injured.

Sheriff’s deputies believe both men were wearing seatbelts as both were in the vehicle when first responders arrived on scene. 

It appears the driver of the UTV, 74-year-old Edgar Ebert of Ferdinand turned into the path of an SUV along Indiana 162.

Ebert was flown from the scene. His passenger, 71-year old Leroy Witte of Jasper, was also flown from Jasper’s Memorial Hospital.  Both were taken to St. Mary’s Medical center in Evansville.  Their injuries not known at this time. 

The driver of the SUV, 29-year-old Sally Jo Stout, was not injured. The accident shut down Indinaa 162 for about an hour and a half.
