We have new information on the suspension of Morganfield Police Chief Craig Bolds.
After Mayor Dickie Berry refused to comment on Chief Bolds’ suspension, Eyewitness News filed an open records request which yielded the suspension letter Mayor Berry sent Chief Bolds on July 7, 2016.
“This action is being taken due [sic] evidence provided the City Council and Mayor with evidence [sic] of your engagement in activities and conduct that adversely has effected [sic] your judgement in preforming [sic] your job duties,” the letter states. “Investigation of additional job performance outcomes and related activities are being conducted to support or discount the need for further action. Upon completion of further investigation with no other findings, you are expected to return.to work on July 22, 2016 at 8:00 AM.”
Eyewitness News also requested any e-mails or electronic correspondence between Mayor Berry and Chief Bolds from May 1, 2016 through July 15, 2016 but there were no emails, according to city officials.
The Police Chief of the Morganfield Police Department has apparently been suspended.
According to multiple corroborating sources, Chief Craig Bolds was recently suspended but has not been terminated.
When reached Friday morning, Morganfield Mayor Dickie Berry said he had no comment, but something could be released in the near future.
The circumstances surrounding Chief Bolds’ suspension are unclear at this time.
State law gives the mayor the right to make all employment decisions, including the chief of police.
