EVANSVILLE, Ind. (WEHT) – The University of Southern Indiana is ending its New Harmony Theatre program.
It’s been part of USI for 32 years.
USI officials say due to dwindling audiences and funding to the theatre, they had to end the program. They say USI has had to fund more than the program was able to generate in revenue.
There will not be a 2020 season.
This will not impact USI Theatre, which calls the USI Performance Center on campus their home.
USI officials encourage the community to support students and faculty of USI Theatre and their upcoming performances.
A statement can be found below:
“This was not an easy decision for the University. USI continues our longstanding and strong connection with Historic New Harmony. New Harmony is a unique educational laboratory where students and teachers, tourists and scholars, leaders and seekers, can come together to experience, explore and create.”
