The University of Southern Indiana Sexual Assault and Gender Violence Prevention Group is holding a “Flowers on the Lake” event on Thursday to honor and remember victims and survivors of domestic violence.
Last year, 45 Hoosiers – including two Vanderburgh County residents – died from domestic violence.
Participants are meeting in front of the Liberal Arts Building at 4:30 p.m. for a short program and a silent walk to Reflection Lake.
Flowers will be released into the lake in memory of the victims and survivors.
The organizers of the event encourage participants to wear purple in honor of Domestic Violence Awareness Month.
In the event of rain, the event will be moved to Mitchell auditorium.
