EVANSVILLE, Ind. (WEHT) – Students gathered on the campus of the University of Southern Indiana Thursday for the annual Flowers on the Lake ceremony, honoring domestic violence victims.

Student speakers honored lives that were lost due to domestic violence and provided awareness about the warning signs of relationship abuse.

People then scattered flower petals onto the water at Reflection Lake in honor of survivors and victims.

Students and faculty also put notes about their experiences with domestic violence on a USI police vehicle.

USI’s Sexual Assault and Gender Violence Prevention Committee hosted the ceremony.
