Person taken into custody on USI’s campus released, authorities say

EVANSVILLE, Ind. (WEHT) – Vanderburgh County Sheriff Dave Wedding said the person taken into custody on Monday did not have a gun and is no longer in custody.

The person was a possible suspect in a shooting investigation being handled by the Evansville Police Department.

The person was initially taken into custody on-campus at the University of Southern Indiana.

EVANSVILLE, Ind. (WEHT) – The University of Southern Indiana sent out an alert on Monday that a potentially armed suspect was on campus.

The university asked people on campus to shelter in place.

Not long after the alert was sent, an update was sent out that the ‘all clear’ had been given and the suspect was placed in custody.
