A new sculpture placed on the University of Southern Indiana campus Thursday commemorates the school’s 50th anniversary.

Richard Hunt, a Chicago based artist, created the sculpture titled ‘From Our Past Toward Our Future’ to be placed on the USI campus.

The 2,000 pound stainless steel piece is near the quad between the Rice Library and the Tech Center.

University president, Dr. Linda Bennett, says it’s a wonderful opportunity for students to learn outside the classroom –

“We feel very honored to have a piece of his art because it’s a wonderful way for us to learn more about his art and it’s also a wonderful expression in terms of where the university is at this time.”

Bennett says the sculpture captures the university’s celebration through artwork.
