There are more than 12,000 active warrants in Vanderburgh County and the prosecutor's office is offering some of those people a chance to avoid arrest.
On Wednesday, July 25th, from 8 AM to noon, the Vanderburgh County Prosecutor's Office will hold a Warrant Compliance Event at the Civic Center downtown.
This allows county residents -- with misdemeanor warrants -- to stand before a judge, get their cases back on the calender and warrants lifted.
Here's how it works:
- Warrants must be misdemeanor
- Bring a form of government identification
- Go to Court Room 110 in the Civic Center to sign in during designated hours
- Appear before a judge that same day
- Get your misdemeanor warrant lifted
Anyone with questions about the event can call: 812-435-5688
If you have a question about your case search for it here: mycase.in.gov
REMINDER: This is not a get-out-jail-free card, but a way to make sure these cases aren't stalled in court.

Both lanes of Highway 41 at the Gibson County and Vanderburgh County…
Darkness turned to light. What looks like just a day out on the lake…
Both the family and daughter were searching for each other.
