EVANSVILLE, Ind. (WEHT)- The president of the Vanderburgh County Commission wants action taken soon to expand the county jail.
In a letter to the president of the County Council, Jeff Hatfield, a county commissioner, urged the council to vote on options as soon as possible.
Hatfield says hundreds of thousands of dollars have been spent studying the over-crowding issue at the facility.
He goes on to write the current conditions are unacceptable to the health, welfare, and safety of everyone in and working at the jail.
Hatfield says the county commission presented a list of options to the council back in November.
We have not been able to get a comment from Tom Shetler, the president of the county council.
