EVANSVILLE, Ind. (WEHT) — Police said one person was arrested after a fire on Bosse Avenue damaged two homes.

Firefighters were sent to a home in the 1600 block of S Bosse Avenue around 5:30 Saturday night.

When firefighters arrived, they said they could see flames from a window. Firefighters said the home suffered extensive damage.

Officials said the fire also caused damage to the outside of a neighbor’s home by melting its siding, breaking a window and leaving water damage. The person living inside the home was displaced with their dog.

William Montrose, 33, was arrested and charged with arson on Sunday.

According to an affidavit, Montrose lived at the home and would argue with the homeowner often.

Officers said the homeowner showed them recorded phone calls of Montrose threatening to set fire to the house.

According to police, Montrose claimed the fire started because he and the homeowner were throwing lit cigarettes at each other. The homeowner told police that did not happen.
