EVANSVILLE, Ind. (WEHT) — Wednesday afternoon, heavy law enforcement presence surrounded parts of downtown Evansville after reports of a suspicious package.
Officials say the potential threat to public is over and the lockdown has been lifted. We’re told packages inside a semi-truck were being scanned when what appeared to be a bomb showed up in one of the packages.
The FBI was alerted to the federal building in the area of Vine and Sycamore streets and started an investigation.
Officials had to rescan every single package afterwards to make sure there was no threat. According to an official source, the image that popped up was believed to be a malfunction.
