Vanderburgh County’s first COVID-19 death identified

EVANSVILLE, Ind. (WEHT) — Eyewitness News is learning more about the first documented death from COVID-19 in Vanderburgh County.

Stanley Emerson Turner II died Monday at Ascension Health from COVID-19 pneumonia, according to his obituary.

Turner was a Navy veteran and long time member of Olivet Community Church. He is survived by his wife, two daughters, three grandchildren, a brother and many nieces and nephews.

His obituary says there will be no showing or visitation due to the current social/medical environment, but there will be a celebration of his life in the months to come.
