Vectren employees pack 900 boxes of holiday meals

EVANSVILLE, Ind. (WEHT) – Vectren employees packed about 900 boxes full of non-perishable food Thursday night at the Lawndale Shopping Center in Evansville.

The Salvation Army will hand out the full Christmas meals to families in need next Tuesday and Wednesday.

Families will be able to come in and shop for toys with a personal shopper and pick up their meals.

Vectren employees have helped pack the food for years and it is a popular cause within the company.

“We put out an email every year, this is one where we don’t need everybody that works there, and we actually have to turn people away. So many people want to do this that we turn people away. So we limit it to how many we need, but yea all these people are on their own time and volunteer hours,” says community affairs director Brad Ellsworth.

The Salvation Army is still looking for volunteers. You can call 812-422-HOPE and ask for the volunteer coordinator.
