Vectren raises $31,000 for cancer research as part of its ‘Real Men Wear Pink’ campaign

EVANSVILLE, Ind. (WEHT) – An effort to get real men to wear pink pays off big time as a Vectren campaign raises $31,000 for cancer research.

Vectren announced the results of its ‘Real Men Wear Pink’ campaign.

It was a mission to get employees, contractors and the community to fight breast cancer.

Vectren handed the American Cancer Society a check for $31,000 Monday.

And for some at the company, like Jason Williams, who has a wife and three daughters, this mission is personal.

“If there’s a chance that my beautiful baby girls will not have to deal with this when they are 40, 50, 60 years old, then we will have been successful.”

This was the second year for the campaign.

Vectren says it tripled the amount of money raised this year.

It was also number one in the State of Indiana and 20th in the nation.
