Vectren says power issue was caused by underground line

Local News

EVANSVILLE, Ind. (WEHT) – A faulty cable, not space weather, caused lights to flicker across Evansville Thursday night.

Vectren confirmed an underground line near a downtown substation caused the power hit.

People as far away as Posey County saw lights flicker.

Rumors swirled on social media that a geomagnetic storm may have been to blame.

Vectren said about 100 customers lost power for a short time.

Everything is back to normal now.
