VINCENNES, Ind. (WEHT)- Vincennes is about to be the next community to have a baby box. Six infants have been surrendered to baby boxes throughout Indiana in the past two years.
The city’s board of public works just approved a contract with Safe Haven baby box to bring one to the community.
The boxes are a legal option for parents in crisis to safely, and anonymously, surrender newborns. The boxes cost about 15 thousand dollars and then 200 dollars a year.
Evansville is set to get two of them.
