An Automated External Defibrillator, or AED, has saved the life of many an individual by restarting their heart after a sudden cardiac arrest.

The Indiana State Police and an organization called ‘Bolt for the Heart’ are teaming up to equip State Police squad cars with the life-saving devices.

They’re doing this through their Fifth Annual Family 5K Run/Walk.

‘Bolt for the Heart’ is a virtual race that can be completed anywhere, and on your own schedule.

The race begins Tuesday and runs through the end of December.

All proceeds go towards purchasing AEDs.
