The Indiana General Assembly is scheduled to wrap up Thursday and one of the final measures to be voted on is funding for the Regional Cities Initiative.
The Indy Star reports Republican lawmakers and Governor Mike Pence reached a compromise Wednesday to boost road spending and add money to the Regional Cities Initiative.
The plan would add about $1 billion to maintain bridges and highways for the next two years without increasing taxes.
Governor Pence would also get $42 million to fund a third region in his Regional Cities grant program. Evansville was among the regions selected in December to receive funding.
Final votes in the house and senate are expected Thursday.
