Vote to sell alcohol on Sunday in Madisonville ends in tie

MADISONVILLE, Ky. (WEHT) – A vote to allow Sunday alcohol sales in Madisonville ends in a tie.

The City Council voted Monday night on whether stores would be allowed to sell packaged alcohol on Sundays.

Since the vote ended in a tie, the ordinance failed.

Mayor Kevin Cotton chose not to be the tie-breaking vote. He says he wanted the City Council to make the decision.

Cotton says he expects the ordinance to come up again with the changes in the language.
