Walmart Pickup Tower launches at Evansville Supercenter

The Walmart Supercenter at 401 N. Burkhardt Road has launched a new program for area customers.

A Walmart Pickup Tower is now up and running at the Evansville Supercenter.

"The programs we are launching here locally are all about saving Evansville customers time and money," said Store Manager Catherine Walls. "The pickup tower is just one of the many ways Walmart is bringing technology to retail allowing our shoppers to get in and get what they need."

Shoppers may have noticed the 16-foot-tall Pickup Tower that was recently installed in the front of the store.

Much like a high-tech vending machine, the Walmart Pickup Tower allows customers to pick up their online orders in less than a minute by scanning a bar code sent to their smartphone.

To use the tower, customers choose from items available on Walmart.com. and select the Pickup option at checkout.

In January, the Terre Haute Supercenter launched the third tower in the state.
