A man running for Warrick County Council is now behind bars.

State Police responded to a call from Ted Metzger’s Boonville residence when his wife reported he attacked her.

Police arrived on the scene and spoke with Melissa Metzger outside the home who suffered deep bruising and cuts on her hands and arms.

They then entered the home to arrest her husband.

Ted, in the shower, announced he had a gun sitting on the toilet. Once the firearm was secured, officers arrested Metzger for domestic battery and interference with reporting a crime.

Metzger was taken to Warrick County Jail.

Metzger, a Republican, is running for an at-large seat on the county council. He was the top vote-getter in the Republican primary race with 5,179 votes (17%).
