Warrick County Council approves local income tax increase

BOONVILLE, Ind (WEHT) – The Warrick County Council approved a half-percent increase in the local income tax.

Council members voted five to two Thursday to pass the measure. David Hachmeister and Ted Metzger both voted against the proposal that was also passed by a five to two vote at last month’s council meeting.

Officials proposed the increase to fund public safety issues, possibly even funding a new county jail.

Councilman Metzger previously told Eyewitness News that this tax hike would roughly work out to an extra $4.81 per week for anyone earning $50,000 per year.
