MARTIN COUNTY, Ind. (WEHT) – A Washington, Indiana man is facing charges after police say they found his one-month-old baby unresponsive.

On July 23rd, Indiana State Police were sent to a home in Loogootee to investigate injuries to a baby.

ISP says 26-year-old Bobby Leighty was taking care of one-month-old Kyson and the baby became unresponsive sometime in the afternoon.

Police say Leighty called family members, who arrived to the home a short time later, then called 911.

The baby was taken to Daviess County Hospital, then flown to Riley’s Children’s Hospital in Indianapolis, where he stayed until Friday.

On Friday, ISP investigators say they were told the baby was taken off life support and died.

Now that the infant has died, Leighty will be charged with neglect resulting in death.
