OVC basketball tournament will return to Ford Center

EVANSVILLE, Ind. (WEHT) – The Ohio Valley Conference Tournament basketball championship is coming back to Evansville in 2020.

Evansville Deputy Mayor Steve Schaefer and Sports Corp. President Eric Marvin announced a multi-year extension to return the tournament to Evansville on Thursday.

Tickets go on sale in October.

On Thursday, the Ohio Valley Conference also announced that the men’s and women’s basketball championships would be coming to Evansville.

The conference said the deal will place the championship tournaments in Evansville through 2023.

The agreement also includes an option for a fourth year, which would be considered no later than the 2022 OVC Spring Meetings.

The 2019 Championships saw record-breaking attendance, with the semi-final setting a record for an OVC neutral site at 8,294 fans.

That record was broken the next night in the final with 10,525 in attendance.

The 2021 championships will run from March 3-6.

The 2022 championships will run from March 2-5.

The 2023 championships will run from March 1-4.
