Kentucky to close all childcare centers, postpone primary election

FRANKFORT, Ky. (WEHT) – Governor Beshear announced major closures and postponements amid coronavirus concerns on Monday afternoon.

Beshear has also asked that all childcare centers in the state be closed by the end of business on Friday, March 20th. This will include an exception for healthcare workers.

Additionally, Gov. Beshear announced the Kentucky primary elections will be postponed until June 23rd.

Governor Beshear also confirmed Kentucky now has 22 confirmed cases of COVID-19. The newest case is a 34-year-old female in Jefferson County. Beshear says he expects more positive cases and believes there are likely already cases in every region in Kentucky.

Beshear also clarified that elective, non-urgent dental procedures are included in the suspension of elective medical procedures.
