(WEHT) – Gov. J.B. Pritzker conducted a Zoom press conference today after his employees are self-isolating and himself are isolating after discovering a senior staff tested positive for coronavirus late last week, his office said Monday.
The staff member was asymptomatic, the governor’s office said in a statement, and was in close contact with Pritzker as well as other employees.
Pritzker and all other staff tested negative. As a result of the positive test, Both Pritzker and his staffers will work from home during an designated isolated period.
Pritzker will continue his weekday afternoon briefings while self-isolating, but will conduct them from home until he is cleared to return.
Illinois health officials announced 1,266 new cases of COVID-19, including 54 additional deaths, on Monday. That brings the statewide total to 79,007 cases, including 3,459 deaths.
