Indiana coronavirus cases surpass 12,000

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. (WEHT) – The State of Indiana announced 431 new cases of COVID-19, as well as 61 new deaths on Tuesday.

There are now 12,097 cases of coronavirus and 630 deaths in the state.

There have been 162 deaths in 74 different long-term care facilities in Indiana.

Governor Holcomb reiterated that no changes to opening restaurants or other establishments will occur until after May 1st. He continues to evaluate the best ways to move forward. Governor Holcomb says further determination of when things will begin reopening will be based on the numbers and how they progress.

Dr. Kristina Box also said the spread of coronavirus is no longer only being spread through large gatherings but contact tracing has shown many cases are spread through every day activities including through healthcare facilities, public transportation, and grocery stores.
