CHICAGO (WEHT)- Dr. Ngozi Ezike of the Illinois Department of Public Health announced Illinois has more than 30,000 total COVID-19 cases after an additional 1,197 cases were announced Sunday.

33 new deaths were reported, bringing to statewide total to 1,290 fatalities. As protests against local stay at home orders continued across the country, including in downtown Chicago, Illinois Gov. JB Pritzker asked for patience.

Illinois’s current order is set to expire April 30 but Pritzker says the state is continuing to look at ways to keep Illinoisans safe during the pandemic.
