West Side Nut Club donates money to local organizations

Local News

EVANSVILLE, Ind. (WEHT) – The West Side Nut Club handed out on Tuesday a large chunk of the money it brought in during the 2019 Fall Festival. 25 organizations will share the latest $100, the club is handing out.

Members say many of the organizations on this list have been hard hit by the coronavirus. Some of those organization include the Vanderburgh County Sheriff’s Office, Reitz High School, and Easterseals.

West Side Nut Club President James Raben says due to the pandemic, he feels it was right to get donations out sooner rather than later.

“Knowing that a lot of these organizations are recipients who were already approved of their membership are probably needing these funds immediately,” said Raben, “so we thought why we wait until even May.”

The West Side Nut Club has donated a record $560,000 to community organizations this year, and they say there is more to come.

West Side Nut Club officials say they are still planning to hold a Fall Festival this year.
