OWENSBORO, Ky (WEHT) A White Flag event is being held Friday night due to an anticipated wind chill below 15 degrees.

Shelter options for Friday evening:
• Go to the Daniel Pitino Shelter (501 Walnut St., Owensboro) at 5:30 p.m. for dinner, and then if bed space is unavailable at local shelters, go to St. Benedict’s Homeless Shelter (1001 W. Seventh St., Owensboro) at 7 p.m. to rest for the night.
• Go directly to St. Benedict’s any time between 7 p.m. and 8 a.m.

Transportation options:
• Owensboro Transit System provides free bus transportation for those without transportation inside the Owensboro city limits to either Daniel Pitino or St. Benedict’s shelters between 4 p.m. – 6 p.m. Inform the bus driver you are going to the shelter.
• For those without transportation in rural areas of Daviess County (outside Owensboro city limits), contact Harry Pedigo (270-315-4419) before 4 p.m. today. GRITS may provide transportation to the Daniel Pitino Shelter, but only during the hours of 5-6 p.m.
