Woman Arrested for Allegedly Leaving Infant in Cold Car

A Huntingburg woman has been arrested for allegedly leaving her infant inside a cold car.

Jasper Police were called to the 4100 block of W. Ruby Ct. around 1:30 a.m. Thursday because a witness told police that two people allegedly exited a vehicle and walked through several backyards.

Once police arrived, police say the vehicle had an infant child inside unattended. The vehicle was not running and the temperature at the time was 3 degrees, according to authorities.

Once the infant was secured inside a police vehicle for its safety, police say officers found two subjects that fled on foot.

One of them, 18-year-old Justice M. Mundy, was apprehended. However, another inidividual now has an warrant issued for their arrest. Police have not identified the second subject.

Police say the infant was left unattended for several minutes inside the vehicle. The infant has been taken into the care of Child Protective Services.

Police also say several items were located inside the vehicle. If you suspect you have any missing items, Jasper Police urge you to call them to see if your property has been recovered.

Mundy faces charges of neglect of a dependent and resisting law enforcement.
