Woman rushes wedding for ailing father

Local News

EVANSVILLE, Ind. (WEHT)- When Shelby Schweikhart-Conville and her husband Jared planned their wedding, they may not have planned on having it in the intensive care unit at St. Vincent Hospital in Evansville.

But when Schweikhart-Conville’s father’s health took a turn for the worse, they agreed on what needed to be done.

According to a post on her Facebook page, Schweikhart-Conville said her father’s cancer had come back less than a month ago, had “taken over his lungs” and he was not responding to chemotherapy.

Schweikhart-Conville said she planned the wedding in less than thirty minutes and got married at the hospital so her father could be there to see it.

Schweikhart-Conville said the moment was “the most beautiful, bittersweet moment of my life. My dad got to see his baby girl get married, and it meant the world to me that he was able to see it.”

Following the wedding, Schweikhart-Conville said her father requested to be taken off life support but the family says they’re still hoping for a miracle.
