Local women will gather Friday at the Old National Events Plaza for the American Heart Association’s annual Go Red for Women Luncheon.

The event, which begins at 10:30, is scheduled to include education on heart health, a “purse-o-nalities” silent auction and a lunch program that will include survivors of heart disease and stroke.

The luncheon will be co-chaired by Becky Malotte, executive director of The Heart Hospital at Deaconess Gateway, and Chris Ryan, CEO of The Women’s Hospital.

The Go Red for Women campaign raises awareness that every 80 seconds a woman dies of heart disease, making it the No. 1 killer of women.

Go Red for Women endeavors to empower women to take charge of their health and lower their risk of heart disease and stroke.

The Old National Events Plaza is located at 715 Locust Street in Evansville.
