HENDERSON CO., Ky. (WEHT) – A contractor for the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet has begun preparing the area for construction of the new Spottsville truss bridge.
Crews will be clearing the trees, shrubs and stumps from the building site for the new footprint of the bridge. This activity may require motorists to stop occasionally. Current work will not require lane closures at this time.
The new Spottsville Bridge will be constructed adjacent to and north of the old bridge. The new bridge will have 12-foot driving lanes and 8-foot shoulders versus 10-foot driving lanes and a narrow shoulder. The additional space will allow for some wiggle room; especially in regards to incident management.
Approximately 3,000 vehicles cross the bridge in an average day.
