Work could start soon on historic house hit by truck

EVANSVILLE, Ind. (WEHT) — Work on a historic house in Evansville, that was hit by a truck last weekend, may start soon.

Ron Beane of the Evansville Building Commission said engineers are checking the building’s stability and, once stabilized, the truck will be removed.

A brick wall damaged in the wreck will be rebuilt.

That work could start before the end of this week.

The truck crashed into the house on the 400 block of Riverside Dr. early Saturday morning.

Beane said the owner of the historic house will work with the Historic Preservation Commission on repairing other features that were damaged.
