Workers in Muhlenberg Co. stepping up to healthier lifestyle

Local News

MUHLENBERG COUNTY, Ky. (WEHT) — Some Muhlenberg County workers are spending the summer stepping up to a healthier lifestyle.

The county started their ‘Get Healthy’ program a few weeks ago.

Nearly 50 employees from several county departments get points for every 10,000 steps they take and for each pound they lose.

County officials say the program, which encourages healthier lifestyles, is getting very competitive.

“Most people go with 10,000 steps a day. Some of us are getting 22,000 to 25,000 steps a day. SO, if we’re working and seeing on the charts that someone is getting more steps than us, the next day, we’re really working hard to do better than they did the day before.”

The contest ends at the end of next month.

Hundreds of dollars in prizes will be awarded to the winners. Those prizes were donated by local businesses.
