EVANSVILLE, Ind (WEHT) – Swonder Ice Arena held a fundraiser today to help a new team that is dedicated to helping children with physical challenges play hockey.
“Write to Rock and Soul” Day benefits the hockey Sled Dogs, which provides an opportunity for children who can not play hockey while standing up.
The event included a visit from the Evansville Thunderbolts and several local food trucks.
Local musical acts also performed-and guests could also sing karaoke.
“It’s exciting. I mean the big thing right now, the problem is that we’ve got our sleds, but we have to be able to have the money for ice time, and Ryan is ready to go. So this fundraiser is going to give him the opportunity to be able to start getting out there every day, and that’s what he’s been waiting for so we’re excited,” says Amy Likens.
The cost of admission was $10.
