WWII grenade found in Illinois house

ILLINOIS (WCIA) – A man in Mattoon, Illinois found something unexpected in a house he was cleaning – a grenade.

The home belonged to a woman, who now lives at an assisted living facility.

Police did some research and found out the grenade was from World War II.

They weren’t sure if it was live so, they took it to their gun range and detonated it.

It wasn’t live but they say you can never be too careful when dealing with explosives.
