Youth First Named Tour’s 2016 Charity of the Year

At the PGA Tour’s Tournament Meetings on Wednesday, Youth First, one of the key charities associated with the Tour’s United Leasing & Finance Championship, was selected as the Tour’s “Charity of the Year.”

At a press conference Friday morning, Youth First President and CEO Parri Black accepted a check on the behalf of Youth First for $30,000.

This is the Tour’s second annual Charity of the Year Award.

Youth First delivered on several fronts as the Tour’s top charity for 2016, including:

  • Valuable promotion of the tournament and ticket sales via its website, social media, newsletters, emails, benefit auction and media spots.
  • Recruitment, training and management of all the admissions volunteers every year.
  • Strategic partnership with the Tour Wives and Romain Cadillac to “Stuff a Caddy for Kids” with school supplies, uniforms, and snacks.

Since 1998, Youth First has provided evidence-based programs that prevent substance abuse, promote healthy behaviors, and maximize student success.

Annually, Youth First provides over 200 prevention programs that enhance parenting skills, improve family relationships, improve family relationships, develop valuable life skills, and reduce risky behaviors.

In 2016, the funds raised allowed Youth First to embed 37 Master’s level social workers in 56 Southwest Indiana schools to provide specialized mentoring and social/emotional support for students, parents and educators.
