One local pup has made national headlines as a marathon runner.
Elizabeth Morgan of Vanderburgh County adopted a black lab named Bella from the Humane Society to help motivate her to run.
After years of battling running injuries, Morgan said that she needed to see the joy in the hobby that began to lose its luster.
Bella was exactly what she needed, she says her new high energy dog was up to the challenge.
Elizabeth and Bella have run eight half marathons and one full marathon together, inspiring the “Run Bella Run To The Rescue” campaign.
The fund raised more than $3,000 for VHS in 2017 and hopes to raise $10,000 this year.
Bella and Elizabeth are expected to compete in their ninth half marathon this weekend in Tell City.
