Longtime Pike Co. teacher passes away; schools closed Monday


PIKE Co., Ind. (WEHT) — The Pike County School Corporation is mourning the loss of a longtime teacher.

In a Facebook post, the corporation said teacher Ivan Mason died early Thursday morning.

Mr. Mason was in his 40th year of teaching for Pike County.

Mr. Mason spent the majority of his teaching career at Winslow Elementary before transferring to Pike Central Middle School where he taught 6th grade Social Studies for the past few years.

Pike County Schools will be closed Monday February 24th.

Visitation for Mr. Mason will be held at the gym at Pike Central on Sunday, Feb 23, from 3:00 to 8:00 pm local.

Another visitation is scheduled for Monday, Feb 24, at Corn Colvin Funeral Home from 11:00 am until the time of service at 12:00 pm local time.
