Eyewitness News’ media partner the Evansville Courier & Press reports an Indiana man publicly accused former Evansville Diocese priest Rev. Raymond Kuper of sexual abuse on Wednesday.

Kuper died in 2012, but the victim said Kuper sexually abused him multiple times as a 9-year-old.

The victim testified at a public meeting Wednesday that the abuse happened when he was a student at Christ the King School.

The testimony was given in favor of Senate Bill 219, in front of the Indiana Senate Judiciary Committee. The bill aims to protect survivors of sexual abuse by giving them more time to sue.

The Courier & Press reports Kuper was a pastor at Christ the King from 1977 to 1987.

The diocese asks anyone with knowledge of sexual misconduct by a person ministering on behalf of the church to contact authorities. There is also a Diocesan Victim Assistance Coordinator phone number which can be called at 812-490-9565 or toll-free at 866-200-3004.
